This Gorgeous 911 GT3 Was Designed for a Porsche Legend

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche is a legend in Zuffenhausen. Best known as the father of the 911, he also brought icons like the 904 Carrera GTS and the 804 Formula 1 car to life. Yesterday, he would have turned 90—and to mark the occasion, Porsche unveiled a very special tribute.

Meet the 911 GT3 F.A. Porsche, inspired by the G-Body 911 that Ferdinand drove throughout the 1980s. It wears a bespoke F.A. Green metallic paint, a modern take on the Oak Green metallic of his original car. Inside, the custom cabin is trimmed with a unique fabric called F.A. Grid-Weave—a fresh interpretation of classic houndstooth—and there’s even a wooden shift knob.

This GT3 is also the first and only model to wear Porsche’s elegant Sport Classic wheels, complete with custom center caps bearing the classic Porsche crest. The "72" roundel on each of the door panels is a nod to the year Ferdinand founded Porsche Design, while special gold badging adorns the rear decklid, and a "90" badge sits just above it.

Porsche will build just 90 examples, each priced at $387,000 before fees. Every car comes with a matching Chronograph 1 timepiece and a coordinated Weekender travel bag.

One of those cars will go to Ferdinand’s son, Mark Porsche, who helped guide the project from start to finish. "I am sure that my father would have loved this very special 911," he says. "Many details of this exciting project were influenced by his personal taste."

The F.A. model is based on the 911 GT3 with the Touring Package, meaning it’s powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six producing 502 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. It sends that power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual.

So if you have $387,000 burning a hole in your pocket, this historic 911 could be yours.
