This former Cynon Valley school site could be turned into bungalows

A former Cynon Valley primary school site could be turned into bungalows if plans are approved by councillors.

The land where Cwmbach Primary School used to be on Bridge Road could be converted into 17 bungalows under plans from Newydd Housing Association.

The former school was demolished in 2018 and the site has remained empty since.

The development would see 15 bungalows go on the market and two would be available for low cost home ownership Plans say the bungalow would have off-street parking to the front or side of them.

Aberdare Girls School to be transformed into new housing estate

There were two objections sent to the council, which they say the homes would cause more traffic problems along a "narrow, terraced street".

It is also claimed there is no need for new houses in the area and they would put further pressure on the already limited health care services in the area.

But Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s planning department is recommending that the planning committee approves the application at its meeting on Thursday, December 5.

They say in the planning report: “The redevelopment of the site for residential purposes is acceptable in principle."
