This first pitch at Royals-White Sox game took a wild turn that the photographer never saw coming

We’ve seen some pretty bad first pitches over the years. Some that don’t even make the plate, some that go sailing well over the plate, and some that just made us laugh (we’re looking at you, 50 Cent).

But then there’s this first pitch before Tuesday night’s Kansas City Royals-Chicago White Sox game in Chicago that really has me conflicted over whether this is this the worst first pitch I’ve ever seen or the best first pitch I’ve ever seen?

Because I didn’t this one was going playing out like it did. And neither did the photographer, who surely thought he was out of harm’s way:

That was not good. But it was also great.
