This fancy dress couple at the Euro 2020 final have become an instant meme

There was one couple in the crowd at the Euro 2020 final who turned heads left, right and centre – and no, it wasn’t a celebrity power couple.

Among the 60,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, we witnessed a meme in the making after a couple stood out from the crowd on live TV. The duo were spotted in hilarious head-to-toe fancy dress, with one dressed up as a pepperoni pizza and the other dressed as Mario from the famous game franchise.

What really ticked people was the woman’s rather unimpressed facial expression as the man spoke to her.

Viewers were in hysterics after spotting the random duo – and their responses did not disappoint.

One person was envious of the power couple and very much wanted what they had.

While another likened the ‘pizza and Mario couple’ to an iconic British meme that shows a man in a bar shooting his shot with a much-less enthusiastic woman.

And wondered exactly what they were talking about...

One said they were witnessing ‘a meme being born’ on live TV.

While others worried that it had given Italy an unfair advantage

And we think this summed it up quite nicely
