This fan-favorite 'Euphoria' character just popped up in 'The Idol'

The Euphoria universe is expanding, if that Alexa Demie The Idol cameo during the HBO miniseries' premiere episode on Sunday, June 4 is anything to go by.

Yes, the actress behind the iconic character of Maddy Perez popped up in the first episode of The Idol, which "set against the backdrop of the music industry, centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult (The Weeknd), who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol (Lily-Rose Depp)," per HBO.  (Who is The Idol based on? We've got the intel.)

The crossover between the two series makes sense, given that both The Idol and Euphoria were created by Sam Levinson, who confirmed the "same universe" theory during a press conference after the show's big premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. But what exactly did Alexa Demie's appearance consist of? Here's what we know.

All about that Alexa Demie 'The Idol' cameo

Lily-Rose Depp's Jocelyn and The Weeknd's Tedros first meet at a nightclub (the latter plays a seedy club promoter turned self-help guru). It's during this night out that viewers can spot Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, who is seen taking shots and dancing alongside Jocelyn and her dance stand-in, played by none other than Blackpink’s Jennie Kim, in her first acting role.

The last time we saw Demie's character was in the Euphoria season 2 finale, during which she was seen chasing her frenemy Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney) around through the school halls during intermission at Lexi's big play, having recently found out that Cassie and Maddy's ex Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) were hooking up.

We're not quite sure where her cameo in The Idol plays out in the Euphoria timeline, but Maddy surely looks happier here than when she was trying to bash Cassie's head against a wall. (Eek!)

Demie also doesn't have any lines in The Idol appearance—her cameo was so minimal it was basically cruising on vibes alone, a pop-in so blink-and-you-missed it that fans have taken to social media to roast the supposed "crossover." Here's what The Idol fans are saying:

The Idol airs on Sundays at 9pm on HBO and Max. (But here's how to watch The Idol anywhere in the world, so you never miss one messy moment.)
