This Edinburgh fry-up institution has won Scotland's 'takeaway breakfast of the year'

Get your JustEat, Deliveroo and UberEats apps at the ready - because if you didn't want a takeaway before, you will be the end of this article.

The teams behind some of Scotland's best takeaways gathered in Glasgow on Tuesday night (30 July 2019) to find out who were voted the country's top to-go eateries.

Dozens of venues flew the flag for Edinburgh at the inaugural Scottish Takeaway Awards 2019 and one famous Edinburgh institution is celebrating a big win with Scotland's 'Takeaway Breakfast of the Year'.

Snax is known as THE hangover-busting café of Edinburgh - a no-frills greasy spoon which can deliver magnificent fried breakfasts at extremely reasonable prices. Their Buccleuch Street and West Register Street branches make choosing your hangover-busting meal easy: you can go for the All Day, Bigger or Biggest breakfast.

For any Edinburgh local who's been revived by the power of Snax's fry-ups (all washed down with a glass bottle of Bru), it'll come as no surprise that the humble caff took the top spot.

Edinburgh also saw wins for:

- Burger Takeaway of the Year : The Ranch

- Best of Edinburgh : Indian Flavour

- Oriental Takeaway of the Year: Soul Sushi

- Kebab Takeaway of the Year South East: Kebab Mahal

- Deli of the Year South East: Vigo Delicatessen

- Sandwich Shop of the Year Overall Winner: Ferry Good Food

- Pizza Takeaway of the Year Overall Winner: Dough Pizzeria

- Fish N’ Chips Takeaway of the Year South East: Bertie’s Proper Fish & Chips

- Curry Takeaway of the Year South East: Indian Flavour

Irfan Younis, chief executive of organisers Creative Oceanic said: "Takeaways have been around for a long time and are the very backbone of the local community and economy.

"The awards aim to provide a platform to those who have dedicated their career in providing us with delicious dishes across multiple cuisines in a timely manner and affordable prices.

"The competition is tough as there are some excellent professionals in the industry but each finalist has their own success story to tell. We can’t wait to welcome our guests and celebrate the winners with them."
