This Edinburgh brewery is hosting 'Pugtoberfest' next month to raise money for dog charity

You may have thought you'd heard it all when we told you there was going to be a "dogtoberfest" taking place in Edinburgh.

But you were wrong, because Bellfield Brewery and Tap Room are hosting "Pugtoberfest" to raise money for charity that rescues pugs.

The brewery, which you can find on Stanley Street in Meadowbank, typically specialises in gluten-free craft beer.

However for one-day only they're turning their hand to party planning in the name of a good cause.

Pooches and their well-trained owners can head along to the event on Saturday 12 October, which will kick off at 12pm.

The brewery have gone all out, creating special edition pug-themed beers - including a very special "Pug Grumble IPA".

They will also be handing out dog biscuits made from spent grain direct from the brewery; humans will also be treated to refreshments.

The theme will of course be pugs and Oktoberfest and party-goers and their pets are encouraged to get dressed up in themed costumes. Pugs in lederhoasen, anyone?

There will even be prizes for the best-dressed pugs and the best snaps shared to social media (tagging Bellfield), as well as raffle.

Lucky winners could pick up a gift bag with the brewery's delicious beer, dog biscuits for your four-legged friend and brewery tour vouchers.

As if that wasn't reason enough to head along, all proceeds will be donated to Muffin Pugs, a charity that specialises in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of pugs.

The family-friendly event is free for children and dogs and costs just £2.50 for adults. You can book through the brewery's website here.
