This Day In Music - 20 September

20 September 1976 - the first night of the two-day 100 Club Punk Festival. The bill for the festival at the 100 Club, featured the Sex Pistols, the Clash, Sub Way Sect, Siouxsie [or Suzie as it was spelt on the original poster] and the Banshees, the Buzzcocks, Vibrators and Stinky Toys. Admission was £1.50. Click here to see promoter Ron Watts reminiscing about the festival. The opening line of Melody Maker's review stated 'The 600 strong line that stretched across two blocks was indisputable evidence that a new decade in rock is about to begin.' Three decades later, the Sex Pistols are set to reunite again, to play a one-off gig at London's Brixton Academy to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album Never Mind The Bollocks. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?
