This Country stars Daisy May and Charlie Cooper are working on a new comedy series.

The real-life siblings, who played cousins Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe on the BBC Three mockumentary, have been using lockdown to work on their latest project.

Appearing on the White Wine Question Timepodcast, Daisy May Cooper said: “Charlie and I have started writing our new thing, which is very, very different. It’s a period thing and it couldn’t be more different from This Country but it’s funny.”

Describing how the experience of writing for new characters had been “brilliant”, she continued: “Because with This Country, we couldn’t kind of write names for names, like for famous actors, it would have to be unknown.

“So this is actually quite funny to have an actor in mind and be able to write a part for them specifically. It’s very, very early days but we’re really enjoying it.”

This Country ran for three seasons on BBC Three from 2017 to 2020 and was inspired by the Coopers’ own experiences growing up in a small Cotswolds village.

The show is currently being remade in the US by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig and will star Sam Straley and Chelsea Holmes as the siblings.

American Pie star Seann William Scott will portray the vicar, a role played by Paul Chahidi in the UK version.
