The Championship has returned with a trademark dramatic clash as Brentford scored two late goals to see off Fulham - and boost Leeds United's promotion hopes in the process.
The two west London rivals met in Saturday's early kick-off in what was the division's first match for more than three months and it was Thomas Frank's side that took the initiative and moved within a point of Scott Parker's third-placed team.
A close contest was settled in the closing stages, when Said Benrahma turned the ball in with two minutes left, before Emiliano Marcondes sealed the points in stoppage time and showed a cool head to cut back in the box and fire home.
The victory for the Bees came after Frank confirmed pre-match that winger Bryan Mbeumo was ruled out of the clash following a positive coronavirus test.
While Fulham remain third in the table on 64 points, it meant they were unable to close the gap on the top two.
West Bromwich Albion play Birmingham City at 3pm, while Leeds United take on Cardiff City on Sunday lunchtime.
Plenty of Leeds fans were watching this first game back and were delighted to see Fulham drop points.
Marcelo Bielsa's side now have the opportunity to open up a ten point gap to third place when they visit south Wales. With Fulham the visitors to Elland Road next weekend, the ball is in Leeds' court to take a huge stride towards sealing a top two space.
