'This club is definitely a social experiment' - Arsenal fans react to Hector Bellerin contract news

Arsenal are in the midst of a busy summer transfer window as manager Mikel Arteta attempts to bridge the gap between his side and last season's top-four.

The Gunners have already announced the signings of Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares for a combined £76million as they look to better their measly eighth-placed finish last term.

As reported by football.london back in May, chief executive Edu is also looking to add a goalkeeper, a creative midfielder and a right-back before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

However, the Brazilian may have changed his mind on signing the latter as the Guardian have claimed that the club has offered Hector Bellerin a new contract despite the Spaniard wanting to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Bellerin's current deal expires in 2023 and he has garnered interest from Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid, with the Italian giants reportedly only willing to offer the north London club a loan move with an option to buy, while the Gunners prefer any move to include an obligation.

Arsenal fans immediately flocked to social media to voice their opinions on the prospect of Bellerin signing a new deal with the club. Here's how a select number of fans reacted on Twitter to the news.

@_sunset7 : "Lmao. This club is definitely a social experiment."

@MegaArsenal : "What? This only gets worse."

@GoonerSwarny : "You are trolling right? I can understand Xhaka staying bit (sic) Hector bellerin? We got to draw a line somewhere."

@XavThe7th : "Xhaka fair enough but BELLERIN?!"

@SVCarbaholic : "Last summer we had offers of £25m for Bellerin and £15m for AMN and all our fans said don’t sell. This summer nobody is interested."
