Chelsea were in pre-season action against Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon (Saturday) as they stepped up preparations for the new season.
The game was a feel for the exact same fixture that kicks off the Premier League campaign for the Blues in just two weeks’ time when they again travel to the Amex Stadium.
It was also used as a test event ahead of crowds possibly being allowed back into stadiums for Premier League games from October.
Two of Chelsea’s summer signings made an instant impact in the game, with Hakim Ziyech providing for Timo Werner to score his first goal in a Chelsea shirt.
That goal didn't prove to be the winning one though after Pascal Gross' 90th minute penalty.
But, it wasn’t all good news for Chelsea, with Ziyech going down injured in the second-half before being taken off the field.
After that happened, Blues’ fans took to social media to show their concern.
It is hoped that the Moroccan international was taken off as a precautionary measure.
He was Chelsea’s first signing of what has proved to be a busy transfer window so far.
Ziyech has since been joined at Stamford Bridge by Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva, with the Blues hoping to further add to their squad over the coming weeks.
