This clip of mountain biker Andrei Burton jumping a pool in Edinburgh has to be seen to be believed

When you think about people doing crazy mountain bike stunts in and around Edinburgh, your mind probably automatically goes to Scotland's very own Danny MacAskill. However, he does have competition in the UK - in the form of Exeter-based trials champion Andrei Burton.

Andrei has been a big player in the UK's mountain biking scene for the last ten years. In 2016, he shared a short clip of himself performing a seemingly impossible jump over one of the large pools outside the Scottish Parliament while on a visit to Edinburgh.

That clip was recently shared in Reddit's "Be Amazed" subsection, where it went viral. And when you see it, you'll know why.

The slow-motion footage shows Andrei leap into mid-air on his bike, and just when you think that there is no way he'll be able to escape crashing down into the water (and getting very wet), he manages to balance his back wheel on the far side of the pool and avoid a dunking.

The gravity-defying stunt has received over 44,000 upvotes on Reddit since it was shared three days ago, and there are hundreds of brilliant comments below it.

One commenter summed up his thought process while watching the clip:

"There’s no way he gets across that... that’s a big jump... he’s taking a bath... here we go. What? No way! Wow. Amazing.”

And another man shared this very relatable anecdote:

"I tried to do a wheelie on my bike at the park yesterday and fell in front of a bunch of teenagers. I also bent my handlebars a bit. I’m a 34 year old balding father of two and I realized that maybe I should just quit."

Will he make it?! (Andrei Burton / Reddit)

Yep, that's exactly what would happen if we tried that too.

Well done to Andrei for this amazing stunt! For more info about Andrei's work, you can visit his website here; you can also follow him on Instagram.
