This cheesy melt-in-the-middle burger recipe is perfect for the BBQ

This weekend is set to be a scorcher, meaning it's the perfect time to dust off the BBQ and dine outdoors.

And there's nothing quite like a burger fresh off the grill to enjoy in the sunshine.

While this may look like an ordinary beef burger on the outside, it hides an amazingly cheesy centre.

And they're really easy to make, too.

This simple recipe uses minimal ingredients and minimal preparation, but it's sure to go down well with the family.

This recipe should make four full-sized burgers.

Ingredients

All you need is:

1 x 500g of beef mince - 20% fat is best (although you can use 5% if you're following a diet plan)

1 x egg

1 x mozzarella ball (chopped into quarters)

2 x tsp garlic powder

1 x tsp cayenne pepper

Salt and pepper

Buns and salad to serve

Optional:

1 x onion finely sliced and fried until brown

Dash of Worcestershire sauce

Method

In a large mixing bowl, mix the beef mince, garlic, egg, cayenne. Season with salt and pepper.

Add the cooled onions and Worcestershire sauce to the mix at this point if you're using them.

Mix all ingredients throughly - using your hands if often the best way to make sure it's all combined.

Divide the mixture equally into 4.

Shape the beef mince into burgers. Place a mozzarella quarter in the centre and push in gently.

Shape the burger patty around the mozzarella so it is completely covered.

Cover the burgers with cling film and let them chill in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

To cook, lightly brush each side of the burger with cooking oil before barbecuing.

Cook for 5-6 minutes each side.

Serve in a bun, with salad and sauce.
