Two more Nottinghamshire Conservative MP's have rebelled against Prime Minister Boris Johnson amid multiple resignations and calls for him to step down. Ruth Edwards, MP for Rushcliffe, has resigned as parliamentary private secretary while MP for Mansfield and leader of Nottinghamshire County Council Ben Bradley has said "this can't continue".
It comes after Ashfield MP Lee Anderson publicly went on record to call for Mr Johnson to resign, while Newark MP Robert Jenrick and Gedling MP Tom Randall also withdrew their support for the PM. Calls for the Prime Minister to resign have stepped up after two of his Cabinet members and several other junior ministers stood down. Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid both resigned within minutes of each other last night (Tuesday, July 5) amid the latest Conservative Party scandal.
Mr Bradley said in a Facebook post: "I've obviously wanted to wait, and to listen, and to come to the right conclusion, but I'm afraid - though it pains me as I have always supported him - this can't continue. Government can't just grind to a halt like this. It is not feasible to continue after 32 resignations in 24 hours."

Writing to the Prime Minister, Ms Edwards said she has tendered her resignation with "deep sadness", adding: "I know my resignation will carry little weight in the grand scheme of things. But when I leave this job, either of my own will or that of my constituents, I need to be able to do so with my self respect intact."
The Prime Minister admitted appointing Chris Pincher as deputy chief whip was a mistake after it was claimed he knew about allegations of sexual misconduct before he was given the role. At Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, July 6, Sajid Javid spoke about his decision to resign as Health Secretary, launching a scathing speech directed at Mr Johnson and those who decided to stay on his cabinet.
Meanwhile Brendan Clarke-Smith, MP for Bassetlaw, has publicly tweeted his support for Boris Johnson. Darren Henry, MP for Broxtowe, is so far the only Conservative Nottinghamshire MP to not make his stance on Mr Johnson's position known to the public.
