This Aprilia Scooter Wears A MotoGP Livery, is Loud And Proud

When Aprilia first rolled out the SR GT a couple of years ago, I’ll admit that I found it a little odd. Aprilia is a name I usually associate with fire-breathing sportbikes and race wins, not scooters weaving through traffic. At first, I figured the SR GT was just another case of a brand trying to shoehorn itself into the booming scooter market.

But the first time I actually rode one (it’s available and actually sells quite decently here in the Philippines), my doubts disappeared. Here was an Italian scooter that wasn’t a Vespa, and it rode with the balance, refinement, and precision you’d expect from a Honda. And I mean that in the best way possible.

Now, Aprilia is doubling down with the SR GT Replica 2025. And yes, that’s really the official name—it sounds a little strange, like a mash-up of model and year, but it makes sense once you see it. This scooter wears the exact livery of Aprilia’s RS-GP MotoGP race bikes, the ones piloted by Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi. Matte black bodywork, purple and red graphics, the diagonal Aprilia logo down the side, and even sponsor decals make this commuter feel like it belongs on a grid next to world-class prototypes.

The details go deeper too, with black wheels accented in red, petal-style brake discs, and sportier road tires instead of the semi-knobby ones found on other SR GT trims.

Power comes from a choice of two single-cylinder engines: a 125cc version good for 15 horsepower and 8.9 pound-feet of torque, or a 174cc unit with 17.4 horsepower and 12.2 pound-feet. Both are liquid-cooled, four-valve engines meeting Euro 5+ standards, which means smooth throttle response, efficient running, and enough pep to keep up with city traffic or suburban highways. Combine that with long-travel suspension, solid ground clearance, and wide handlebars, and you’ve got a scooter that feels more planted and versatile than most in its class.

But the point of the SR GT Replica isn’t just practicality. It’s about character. Scooters often get written off as bland, purely functional transport. Aprilia challenges that with something that feels fun and special, even if all you’re doing is commuting to work. And while scooters are still niche in the US, this model shows how they can carry real personality—tying directly to MotoGP, no less.

That matters because it reframes how we think about two wheels. Not everything has to be a 200-horsepower superbike to get your pulse going. Sometimes, all it takes is a commuter that wears its racing heritage proudly and turns your daily ride into something you actually look forward to. The SR GT Replica 2025 might sound like an odd name, but in execution, it’s exactly what Aprilia does best: making everyday rides feel like a taste of the track.
