This Aldi desk fan claims to cool the entire room – and it’s less than £40

With temperatures soaring this week, fans have never been so in demand. Luckily the heatwave has coincided with Amazon Prime Day, with the sales event bringing excellent deals on fans and ACs to save us from the stifling heat. At the same time, budget supermarket Aldi is set to release some well needed cooling products in store, one of which is a cheaper rival to our best fan.

Aldi’s globe fan aims to mirror the design of Meaco’s top-rated fan (£99.99, Meaco.com), with the supermarket claiming it can circulate a cool breeze throughout an entire room. But at £39.99, it’s a fraction of the price of the MeacoFan sefte that sells for £100. The globe fan boasts three modes, from a gentle breeze for when you’re sleeping to a ‘drying’ mode if you need to speed up laundry time.

Joining this model, Aldi has also released a portable air cooler, which uses evaporation technology to actively lower room temperature – a budget friendly alternative to air conditioning. There’s also a convenient solution for cooling on the go, a £6.99 flexibe tripod fan that can be attached to desks, cots and propped up when you’re out and about.

If it’s the globe fan that’s caught your eye though, read on for all the details.

When can you buy Aldi’s affordable globe fan?

Dropping in stores on Thursday 2 July, the fan is set to sell out quickly. As it’s part of the supermarket’s limited specialbuys range, stock is unlikely to return once it’s gone.

Best fans

Unfortunately the MeacoFan sefte is out of stock, but here’s another highly-rated alternative to shop in the meantime.

Levoit pedestal and desk fan

Levoit’s pedestal and desk fan had “wider coverage than many standard fans” when expert tester Joanne Lewsley tried it out. “In turbo mode, airflow is particularly impressive, but even at lower speeds, it maintains a steady, smooth breeze without feeling too harsh,” she wrote in her review.

Its versatile design means you can use it as both a pedestal and desk fan, and it feels durable too. “The base is reassuringly sturdy, and the design has a more premium finish than the brand’s usual functional aesthetic,” said Joanne.
