This 21-year-old with a heart condition is stranded abroad after collapsing on holiday

The family of a young man with a heart condition who is stranded abroad after collapsing on holiday are trying to bring him home for urgent surgery.

Myles Fuller has been in intensive care in a Czech hospital since the end of April, after suffering a bleed on his heart during a trip to Prague with friends.

The 21-year-old, from Stockport, has a condition called Marfan Syndrome, which affects the body's connective tissues and can cause serious cardiac problems.

Although the hospital has been able to stabilise him, medics there say they do not know enough about the condition to be able to operate, and he needs to come home urgently for surgery.

His travel insurance has covered the cost of his medical treatment, but does not extend to the cost of an air ambulance, so his family are doing what they can to raise the money themselves, as he is not well enough to take a normal flight.

Friends of Myles, who is a manager at McDonald's in the Merseyway shopping centre in Stockport, have rallied round to give what they can, but the family are still short of the funds they need to fly him home.

Myles' sister Chloë has stayed at the family home in Heaton Norris trying to arrange all the help she can, while their mum is with Myles in Prague.

Chloë, 24, said: "He was saying he didn't feel very well, and all of a sudden he was in a massive amount of pain. He's got a bleed on his heart. We know he needs to come home to have an operation.

"It took a week to get him stable. He's very limited in what he can do.

"My mum has been getting any money she can so we can get him home."

Chloë has also thanked everyone who has come forward to help the family so far, and is overwhelmed by the kindness that has been shown by Myles' friends.

She added: "It's been incredible. I think he's great, obviously, but it's all his friends from work and school - it's even got back to his old school and people still remember him and want to do everything they can to help.

"The kindness of other people has made me want to cry, we didn't expect it. People I haven't spoken to in years have been offering to help.

"It's simple things - everyone offering to come round for tea because I'm on my own, it's come from nowhere. I want to bake everyone their own cake to say thank you because I don't know what else to do."

The appeal has already raised almost £2,000 of the £20,000 needed to pay for an air ambulance.
