This £1 tip for removing stubborn fake tan is being hailed as a 'game changer'

Stubborn fake tan can be difficult to remove once it hits the streaky stage.

There’s always one annoying part, that won't budge, no matter how hard you exfoliate or scrub.

However, one woman claims she’s found a solution which can get rid of fake tan in seconds, and won’t cost the earth.

Posting on Twitter, Lauren Souness, from Edinburgh, shared a picture of a standard fillable washing up sponge, writing: “To all my tanning friends... Bondi sands tan remover in one of these little scrubbers takes your tan off in minutes girls legit seconds!”

Since the tweet was posted it has been shared almost 2,000 times, and liked over 14,500 times.

Fake tanners have also been rushing to share their own experiences, the Manchester Evening News reports.

“Omg I just tried this and it’s actually so good!! Game Changer!” said one social media user.

Another wrote: “You just need to make sure that you leave it on your skin for 5-10 mins to fully soak in and then wash off in the shower - for those stubborn after tan areas it works best when you scrub off with exfoliating mitts/gloves or a dry body brush."

Fillable washing up sponges are currently being sold for £1 at Asda, while Bondi Sands Tan Eraser is on offer for £11.95 at FeelUnique.

According to Lauren, the white washing-up sponges are gentler on the skin than those with a green sponge, so this is important to keep in mind.

If you have sensitive skin you should avoid hard scrubbing, as this could lead to the skin becoming agitated and sore.

Before trying the hack, it’s a good idea to test a small amount on the skin to ensure no reactions are caused.
