Thiruvananthapuram: SI saves man from thrashing, gets lauded

T'PURAM: An exemplary act of compassion shown by Aruvikkara sub-inspector Kiran Syam, who put himself in danger to shield a man from getting thrashed by DYFI activists at the venue of an event attended by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan is winning praises from all quarters.

The incident took place on Thursday at Vocational Higher Secondary School, Poovachal, where the CM was inaugurating a new building. A 54-year-old man tried to reach the podium, while CM was on the stage, which the DYFI activists gathered there perceived as a threat. They started thrashing the man when Syam, who was on security duty there, shielded the man with his own body. The officer received a few beatings in the melee.

Meanwhile, Syam said that any policeman would have done the same thing if they were in his place, because they are all sworn to serve and protect the public.tnn
