Thirty-six more people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after contracting coronavirus

Thirty-six more people have died from coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals.

The region's hospital death toll has now reached 2,761, the latest NHS figures show.

Twelve more COVID-19 fatalities were recorded at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

Nine more deaths were recorded at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, the organisation in charge of the Royal Oldham, Fairfield General and Rochdale Infirmary.

The Royal Bolton Hospital recorded six more Covid deaths, Salford Royal four, Tameside General three and Stepping Hill two.

Today's regional total is the highest since October 27 when 38 deaths were recorded.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Tuesday, November 3 were:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 293
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 538
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 706
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 234
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 266
  • Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 329
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 16
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 358

Nationally, a further 225 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 33,335.

Patients were aged between 47 and 101 years old, NHS England said.

All except 11 (aged 52 to 99 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from October 21 to November 2.

Every day, the NHS in England provides an update on Covid-19 related fatalities.

These are cases in which a patient has tested positive for the virus within 28 days of their death - or when Covid is mentioned on their death certificate.

The NHS England figures do not include deaths in care homes or other settings
