Thirty-five more people have died Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's hospital death toll has now reached 4,560, the latest NHS data shows.

Sixteen more deaths were recorded at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust; the organisation in charge of the Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital.

Meanwhile, six more deaths were recorded at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, five at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and three at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust recorded three more deaths and Salford Royal confirmed a further two losses.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Friday January 15, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 502 (+5)
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 859 (+16)
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,258 (+6)
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 395 (+2)
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 381
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 474 (+3)
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 20
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 649 (+3)

Nationally, a further 807 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 59,519.

Patients were aged between 32 and 101 years old. All except 51 (aged 40 to 97 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from November 18 to January 14.

Each day the NHS releases an update on the number of fatalities related to coronavirus at hospitals across England.

These are cases where a patient has tested positive within 28 days or where Covid-19 is mentioned on their death certificate.
