There's more weather misery to come as around 60mm of rain is due to fall in just 12 hours in parts of the south-west on already sodden ground.

Heavy rain has fallen across the south of the country this week, with Somerset, Dorset and Devon being particularly badly affected.

Homes and businesses could become flooded following a particularly wet October.

A further 41 alerts are in place ranging from Burton Trent to Lower Frome and tributaries, the River Axe area and the Upper Bristol Avon area.

The Met Office said it will be damp in the south west today with rain, drizzle and low cloud edging slowly north eastwards.

It will be milder for most. There will be outbreaks of rain and drizzle tomorrow.

The weather's set to turn more unsettled over the weekend, with spells of heavy rain interspersed with bright spells and showers. It will be windy for many with coastal gales predicted.
