Third week in a row with no new Covid linked deaths in West Dunbartonshire

West Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute again both reported no deaths related to coronavirus in the past week.

Figures published by the National Records for Scotland show that the number of deaths in West Dunbartonshire up until July 26 remained at 124 while in Argyll and Bute, which covers Helensburgh, the figure sits at 64.

Last week became the fourth since lockdown was introduced in March that West Dunbartonshire has not reported a death linked to the virus and the first time that no deaths have been recorded locally in three consecutive weeks.

Of those to have lost their life in the area 59 have been in care homes, 60 in hospitals and five in residential settings.

Nationwide, Scotland reported a slight rise on last week’s figures in the number of deaths where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate, with eight registered. Six people died under the same criteria last week. The figure peaked at 661 in April.
