Third teen suspect arrested over cooking oil vandalism at Blackpill Lido

South Wales Police have confirmed that a third suspect has been arrested after two drums of cooking oil were poured into Blackpill Lido in Swansea .

Two teenage suspects, aged 15 and 16, were released on bail earlier today , after being arrested on suspicion of criminal damage in connection with the vandalism at Blackpill Lido last week .

Police had previously released CCTV of two people they wanted to speak to in connection with the vandalism, that forced Swansea Council to close the attraction for several days.

Swansea Council made the decision to close the pool while it was drained, chemically cleaned and made safe for families to use again for the busy summer holiday season.

The lido had already been targeted by vandals in June this year, when a group of youths put broken glass into the pool.

Some of the perpetrators came forward and took part in restorative justice by doing a litter pick at Blackpill.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: "A 15-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the damage – the previous two arrested have been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
