Brighton Argus journalists are planning to strike for a third time this week. National Union of Journalists' members will picket the paper on Thursday and Friday in their continuing protest at sub-editorial redundancies and a pay freeze.
Production work has been switched to the Southampton office of the paper's publisher, Newsquest/Gannett.
A posting on the strikers' website, in which Brighton is spelt Brighten, is headlined Why the Argus needs local subs.
One NUJ member said: "What's astonishing is that a local newspaper company doesn't seem to realise how damaging it is to keep shifting jobs out of the local area."
He/she added: "We won't be able to save those jobs now by going on strike but hopefully we will secure a pay rise after three years of suffering a real-terms pay cut."
