Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway in urgent appeal for volunteer drivers due to coronavirus pandemic

An urgent plea has been made for volunteer drivers to help deliver food to the region’s vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic.

Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway is looking able and willing volunteers across the area to help the council deliver food following the new restrictions that were put in place on Monday.

Anyone with a car and who is willing to drive to help people isolated at home should fill in the volunteer form on the Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway website at www.thirdsectordumgal.org.uk and put “volunteer food driver” in the box asking which opportunity you are interested in.

A mileage allowance will be provided and you will be allowed to travel, despite the Government’s new restrictions. All volunteers will be paired up and will not come into direct contact with anyone they are delivering to or delivering with, unless immediate family members.

After completing your form, you will be contacted with more detail.

Anyone who has previously completed the form and indicated driving as a way to help will be contacted.
