Third Morgan Whittaker Rangers transfer bid incoming as Ibrox club refuse to give up on Swansea star

Rangers will make a third bid for Morgan Whittaker after he was left out of Swansea City’s squad for their trip to Queen’s Park Rangers.

The Light Blues have already had two offers turned down by the English Championship side and Record Sport understands they will try again this week. Whittaker is keen to make the move to Ibrox and asked to be left out of the Swans team that headed to Loftus Road for Saturday’s draw. Whittaker would be unable to play for Rangers if he was to play for Swansea, as he spent the first half of the season out on-loan at Plymouth Argyle.

Swansea City boss Russell Martin confirmed: "I did the (pre-match) press conference and received a text from Morgs saying he wasn't in the right frame of mind to travel with the squad, for a number of reasons. The situation hasn't changed, we haven't received any more bids from anyone. We have to respect that and be conscious he's a young man in a difficult moment.

“His well-being is the most important bit. He's got his family with him this weekend because he doesn't want to think about football and we'll assess the situation when we're back in on Monday and see where we're all at.

"It just means it'll be a slower process, him trying to get back into the team if he's still here in 12 days or whatever it is, which I envisage him being."

Rangers are on the verge of making Todd Cantwell their first signing of the month, while they are also keen to land Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin.

Meanwhile, Rangers youngster Charlie McCann is set to join Forest Green Rovers for an undisclosed fee. The English League one strugglers have agreed a deal for the Northern Irish squad player.

The midfielder has travelled south for a medical and to finalise terms on a long-term deal.
