Third man charged in Dublin Airport cocaine find worth €245,000

A man has been charged after three people were found to have ingested 280 pellets of cocaine worth €245,000 at Dublin Airport.

The trio was stopped by officers during the operation at the airport after coming into the country on a flight from mainland Europe.

A third man has been charged and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice tomorrow morning.

A garda spokesman said: "The third male arrested in relation to the seizure of €245,000 worth of Cocaine at Dublin Airport on September 20, 2020, has been charged. He is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice tomorrow morning, Wednesday September 23, 2020."

A man and a woman were charged earlier today.

Custom Offices alerted Gardai at around 7:50pm on Sunday night that they had detained the three passengers on suspicion of drug trafficking.

The two men and woman, all aged in their 20s, had ingested the pellets of drugs which were subsequently seized by the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB).

All three were arrested and taken to Ballymun Garda Station.

A garda spokesman previously said: "Gardaí at Dublin Airport assisted by personnel from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) and Customs Officers have seized €245,000 worth of cocaine, charged a man and a woman and arrested another man following an operation at Dublin Airport on 20/09/2020.


"At approximately 7:50pm, Customs Officers alerted Gardaí that they had detained three passengers who arrived on a flight from mainland Europe earlier that day on suspicion of drug trafficking.

"The passengers, two men and woman all aged in their 20s, had ingested a combined approximate 280 pellets of suspected cocaine (pending analysis) worth €245,000."


He added: "All three persons were arrested and taken to Ballymun Garda Station detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.

"One of the arrested men and the woman have since been charged in relation to this incident

"The other male remains in Garda custody at this time."
