A third man has been charged after an alleged knife attack in Melbourne's CBD left a 20-year-old dead.

Homicide squad detectives, with help from the organised-crime tackling "VIPER" taskforce, executed a search warrant at Burnside Heights in Melbourne's northwest on Wednesday morning.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old man and he's been charged with affray, to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on November 15.

The 20-year-old man from Cranbourne in Melbourne's southeast died in hospital after he was critically injured in a fight on Bourke Street in the early hours of Sunday, October 30.

Another man was stabbed and taken to hospital in a critical condition, but he has since been released, according to police.

Homicide squad detectives last Friday charged a 23-year-old man from Seabrook in Melbourne's southwest and a 20-year-old man from Delahey in the city's northwest with murder.

The pair was also charged with affray, intentionally causing serious injury, and intentionally causing injury.

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the fight has been urged to contact officers.
