Third man arrested for 'attempted murder' after racially-aggravated attack on NHS worker

A third man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a racially-aggravated attack on an NHS worker on Monks Park Avenue in Horfield.

The 21-year-old victim was walking to the bus stop after finishing work at Southmead Hospital in Bristol at about 4.20pm on Wednesday, July 22.

He was then struck down by a car and suffered serious injuries including a broken leg, nose and cheekbone.

Since the attack, the victim, known as K or Kdogg, gave an interview discussing how it has left him feeling traumatised and scarred for life.

The arrest comes as two 18-year-old men were also released under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday.

Police have said the incident is being treated as a racially-aggravated attack due to the racist language used by the occupants of the car.

K did not see the extent of his facial injuries until he was discharged from hospital (PA)

Supt Andy Bennett said: “The dedicated team investigating this incident are committed to carrying out a thorough investigation and I hope this third arrest provides further reassurance to the victim and the wider community about how seriously we’re treating this incident.”
