Third First Bus driver dies from Covid amid outbreak as pals tribute 'nice guy'

Tributes have been paid to a First Bus driver who died after a two month battle with coronavirus.

Graham Kemp, 68, passed away on Monday March, 22 and is the third member of staff to lose his life after an outbreak at the Larbert depot.

His colleagues Thomas Rooney and Robert Fraser died within two weeks of each other last month.

It is understood Graham had contracted the virus in January when the outbreak first began and had remained in hospital since.

His family and friends have taken to social media to express their sadness and hailed Graham as "such a nice guy".

One family member said: "My Uncle Graham lost to COVID-19 - 21/2/53 - 21/3/2021" with an emoji of a broken heart.

A friend wrote: "Just hearing the news such a nice guy taken too soon. R.I.P Graham Kemp".

Devastated loved ones who knew popular Graham changed their profile pictures on Facebook in tribute to those who have died from Covid.

Andrew Jarvis, Managing Director for First Midland: "I can confirm that one of our colleagues, Graham Kemp, has sadly passed away in hospital following a long battle with Coronavirus. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

"Graham was a popular member of the Larbert team, who worked with the company for 10 years and he will be sorely missed."

"We are of course offering every assistance to his family at this time as well as offering our full support to all our colleagues in the Larbert Depot.

"The safety of our staff and customers is always our number one priority and since the first cases were identified on site, we have worked closely with NHS Forth Valley’s Public Health department to take all necessary steps to minimise the risk of a spread of the infection with the mitigations we have in place.

"I would like to pay tribute to the whole team, who continue to work hard, and especially our fantastic staff, who are providing a lifeline to allow fellow key workers to access their jobs in the most difficult of circumstances."
