Third coronavirus patient dies in Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham

A third coronavirus patient has died in Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

The patient, a 91-year-old man, had an underlying health condition.

He died in the hospital on Wednesday, March 18.

Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a third patient who was being cared for at Queens Medical Centre, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died.

“The patient, 91, with an underlying health condition, died on Wednesday March 18.

“His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.

“We continue to follow all of the appropriate infection control guidance to provide safe and effective care to our patients.

"Patients with appointments should still attend as normal unless they have a new and continuous cough or a temperature in which case they should contact the telephone number on their appointment letter for further advice.”

A further 39 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 167, NHS England said on Friday, March 20.

A statement from NHS England said: “A further 39 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 167.

“Patients were aged between 50 and 99 years old and had underlying health conditions.

“Their families have been informed."
