'Think of others' blasts Lothians coastguard as selfish drivers block emergency services AGAIN

Frustrated coastguard crews have hit out at selfish drivers in East Lothian as cars blocked emergency services access "again".

East Lothian Council took the decision to close coastal car parks in March amid concerns over the number of people flocking to local beauty spots during the coronavirus outbreak.

While Scots are now allowed to sit and enjoy public areas, including nearby beaches, the local authority decided to keep the car parks closed to discourage visitors from travelling into the area by car from further afield.

However, much to the frustration of many locals, this hasn't stopped people descending on East Lothian's beaches at the weekends - often parking wherever they can.

As reported by Edinburgh Live, residents were left furious when covidiot drivers blocked emergency services at a local beach just over a week ago but it seems selfish drivers haven't got the message with similar incidents highlighted by the coastguard this weekend.

Taking to social media, Dunbar Coastguard hit out at selfish drivers and urged them to "think of others".

In a statement, the crew said: "Teams from across the Area completed a second weekend of Accident Prevention Surveillance Patrols yesterday.

"It was a thankfully routine day with no taskings for Dunbar Coastguard. However, despite the local media attention this issue gained last week, cars were again found to be obstructing coastal access roads that may be needed by emergency services.

"Whilst it is nice to enjoy our beautiful coastline now that lockdown restrictions have eased, please think of others and consider the consequences of your actions."

Despite some restrictions being lifted, Nicola Sturgeon has also said she didn't "people flocking to beauty spots" and even warned that they may have to be "reapplied" if people break the five-mile rule.
