Jilly Cooper, speaking on an ITV documentary tonight about the bond between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, says: "Obviously, there is a very strong sexual pull. They love the same things. They love the countryside and they adore dogs."

The romantic novelist goes to explain how the couple's friends first knew there was something going on again because "these two Jack Russells [Charles and Camilla's] were getting very fond of each other".

Odd - but it certainly wins out in the dignity stakes over learning of the love affair from an illicit recording of the heir to the throne comparing himself to a tampon.
