Things to do with the kids in and around Manchester this weekend

The weekend's almost upon us once again and there are loads of family events to keep the kids happy this Saturday and Sunday.

From dinosaurs down at the farm to mud painting at The Whitworth, there are lots of events to suit kids of all ages.

And with this ever-changing weather, there are indoor and outdoor fun to choose from.

Here's what's on in and around Greater Manchester this Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 ...

Jurassic Farm at Cockfields, Ashton

The popular Jurassic Farm event is back at Cockfields this weekend.

Families can join Blue the Velociraptor, Tricksy the T-Rex and baby dinosaurs Mini and Pixi for lots of dinosaur fun.

The duo will be doing walkabouts and little ones can dig for fossils, dinosaur bones and gem stones and make their own fossils to take home.

There's all the usual fun of the farm too, including cuddling the chicks and guinea pigs, grooming the bunnies and meeting the snakes and lizards.

Tickets cost £9.95 for adults and £12.95 for children and can be booked online .

Art in the Park, Prestwich

The whole family is invited to take part in our free celebration of art, creativity, fun and imagination this weekend.

There'll be loads of activities for children to get involved in at Saturday's event, which is part of Prestwich Arts Festival.

Pop-Up Adventure Play is there, giving kids the chance to use their imaginations creating everything from giant robots, to huge castles or racing cars.

Make your own origami artwork to add to the installation, or try your hand at one of the crash course craft activities.

There'll be food vendors at the site should you need to refuel.

Happy Sundaze, Manchester Monastery

Happy Sundaze is back at the iconic Manchester Monastery this weekend helping families end the summer in style.

The event, from Our Kids Social, will feature their popular silent discos among a jam-packed line-up for kids of all ages.

David Gibb will be playing a live gig in the nave and there'll be tons of Lego and Duplo from Bricklands for families to get stuck into, as well as a whole area devoted to creating, making and having family fun.

Conker Crew will be offering forest school fun, there'll be resident facepainters, murals to colour and Oops a Daisy Circus Skills.

The event runs from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday. Tickets, costing £7.50 each, can be booked online.

Labyrinth, Manchester Great Northern

The family favourite Labyrinth is coming to the big screen this weekend.

There's a special showing of the hit movie, starring David Bowie, at Manchester Great Northern's Odeon.

It takes place at 3.30pm on Saturday. Tickets, costing £6 each, can be booked online.

Giant Leap Frog Art Trail, Stockport

If you've been meaning to do Stockport's Giant Leap Frog Art Trail then this weekend is your final chance.

A total of 19 brightly-painted frog sculptures have been on display around the town since August but the event finishes this Saturday, September 28.

The colourful frogs, each with an individual design, are on their own lily pads and placed at various locations including St Peter's Square and Market Place.

Characters include 'dapper digital dude' KermIT, Mrs Mersey - the Hoppy Shopper, This Little Froggy Went to Market and more.

After the trail closes, the frogs will be auctioned with surplus funds awarded to charity to create a Giant Leap legacy fund.

Outdoor Art Club, The Whitworth

The popular Outdoor Art Club is back at The Whitworth this Saturday and there are activities taking place for all ages.

For under sizes there's water play, mud painting, construction and nature inspired crafts from 10.30am to 12pm.

Between 1pm and 2pm parents and children can drop in and work with an environmental artist to create nature inspired artworks.

And as a special extra event this Saturday, the City of Trees will be there making birdfeeders. The activity is for all ages. Drop in between noon and 2pm.

There's no need to book any of the activities and it's all completely free.

Inflatable Kingdom, Brookdale Park

The Inflatable Kingdom returns this weekend with slides, games, a disco, treasure hunts and more.

Wristbands are available for four-hour sessions on the inflatables, costing £7.99 each. Otherwise it's £2 a go.

These run from 10.30am to 2.30pm, or 1pm to 5pm.
