March 28-April 26 - London: The Velveteen Rabbit
Margery Williams and William Nicholson’s classic children’s book comes to life in this stage adaptation of the beloved tale. Tickets are selling out quickly though, so be sure to book in advance.
April 1 - Cumbria: The Great Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt
Join Peter and his friends in the beautiful Lake District for this hunt with a difference! 50 ceramic eggs will be hidden all over the countryside, with each one containing a special prize, including Beatrix Potter books. This year’s theme is The Tale of Mrs Tiggy-Winkle! This is an event for the whole family, with the entry fee going to support Water Aid.
2nd April - Bristol: Belle and Boo
Create your very own bunny ears at a storytelling day with Belle and her bunny friend Boo, which also involves games and craft activities.
April 3-17 - London: The Discover Children’s Story Centre
The Discover Children’s Story Centre have a lot of great events happening over the holidays. Until April 6 they are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the classic children’s book Guess How Much I Love You, where you can make a Easter basket and follow the bunny’s trail for a chocolate treat! From 3 to 17 April, there is a story trail, garden and interactive exhibition, followed by a session with a Story Builder for stories from authors and illustrators. That’s not all, though, as there’s a return for the Where’s Wally? Weekend and visits from author and illustrator Emily Hughes and poet Joe Coehlo, from CBeebies Rhyme Rocket!
April 5-27 - Newcastle: Seven Stories
As ever, Seven Stories offers up events to let imaginations run wild. On April 5, they have their Mixed: Fairytale Performance in which classic tales are shaken and stirred. They also have a new exhibition, which also opens on April 5 as well, Moving Stories, which is an interactive look at stories and their film adaptations, featuring original sketches, manuscripts and much more.
April 7-9 – Leeds: Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs at The Theatre Royal
What would you do if you found a real-life pirate hiding in your school’s supply cupboard? Join Flinn as he discovers just that and tries to defeat the pirate dinosaurs in this swashbuckling production which includes live music and puppetry!
April 15 - Exeter: The Cat in the Hat
Get ready for an adventure in rhyme and silliness as one of the naughtiest cats in literature takes to the stage…
