First up, there’s a new food hall opening in south London, with 12 vendors ready to feed guests until they pop, while one east London bar is slashing its prices to 2004 levels to celebrate its birthday.
Elsewhere, there’s a brilliant new exhibition at one of London’s top museums, the final few days of a design-focused festival, and more.
While the past couple of weekends have understandably felt strange, but now things seem to be getting back to normal. Here’s the best of what to get up to in town this weekend.
The restaurant: Market Place Vauxhall
Market Place is adding to its food halls in Hounslow and Peckham by opening a new spot just south of the Thames this weekend. With 12 vendors in place, there’s a globetrotting menu to tuck into — from the Jamaican flavours of Rudie’s Jerk Shack and Chelo’s Persian dishes, to Made In Puglia’s Neapolitan pizza and Hermano’s Taco House.

The bar: Big Chill Brick Lane
Wouldn’t it be great if we could time-travel back to the days when you didn’t need to take out a small loan to buy a round of drinks in a London bar? That’s basically the plan at the Big Chill in Brick Lane this Friday, which will be celebrating its 18th birthday by pricing its drinks as they were 18 years ago. That means £4 glasses of wine, £3 pints, and house spirits plus a mixer for £3. Time to party like it’s 2004.

The exhibition: Hallyu! The Korean Wave at the V&A

The event: London Design Festival
London Design Festival enters its final few days this weekend, and there’s still plenty to see around the capital. Go on a design-led tour of Earl’s Court, follow the Shakespearean art trail along the bank of the Thames, or try on digital fashion and check yourself out in the AI-assisted smart mirror at the V&A. The club night: Sadar Bahar and others at Night Tales
Head beneath the railway arches in Hackney for this club night led by Sadar Bahar, the Chicago legend with a collection of funk, soul, disco and house records to rival the very best of them. Portuguese DJ Mafalda is another highlight on the night, with MarshmeLLo, Leanne Wright and Sanoy also appearing.
