Things to do in London this weekend (June 24-26)

Feast on this: Pub in the Park returns to London this weekend

(Picture: Handout)

It might feel like everyone with an Instagram account is at Glastonbury this weekend, posting merrily while the rest of us watch on in envy, but here’s the thing: London is still very much open for business.

So leave your Worthy Farm regrets behind, and head out to explore what our city has to offer. The answer, in short, is lots: from food-packed festivals to reopened rooftops and fascinating film festivals.

Here’s what to get up to in London this weekend.

The restaurant: Pub in the Park

(Handout)

Tom Kerridge’s culinary spectacular lands in Dulwich this weekend, with plenty to get stuck into: chef masterclasses from the likes of James Martin and Atul Kochhar; special menus from Hoppers, Brindisa and more; top stand-ups such as Mark Watson and Henning Wehn; and music from Craig David, Sister Sledge, Faithless, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and others.

From £40, June 24-26, Dulwich Park, SE21, pubintheparkuk.com

The bar: Dalston Roofpark

If there’s one thing Londoners love year after year, it’s a top-floor tipple, and now one of the city’s best rooftop bars has reopened for business. Dalston Roofpark has been given a big makeover, and is now back serving drinks — from beer to hard seltzers — alongside its burger menu. Fancy a dance? Stick around as the sun goes down and join the DJ parties on Fridays and Saturdays.

18-22 Ashwin Street, E8 3DL, dalstonroofpark.com

The exhibition: Royal Academy Summer Exhibition

(David Parry/ Royal Academy of Arts)

Summer is finally here, and the Royal Academy has moved its annual open-submission exhibition back into its traditional slot. Hurrah! There are 1,462 artworks to explore, covering all aspects within the theme of “climate”. The general consensus is that bad things are afoot, but as our reviewer found, “it’s considerably less depressing than that sounds”.

From £20, until August 21, 6 Burlington Gardens, W1S 3ET, royalacademy.org.uk

The event: London Indian Film Festival

Dobaaraa (Selection Courtesy of London Indian Film Festival)

Europe’s largest South Asian film festival kicks off this weekend. With companion events in Manchester and Birmingham, London’s programme has plenty to intrigue, from a world premier of Anurag Kashyap’s supernatural thriller Dobaaraa to a conversation with Bengali cinema icon Aparna Sen. Check out our guide to the festival here.

The club night: Little Festivxl

Need a way to rid yourself of Glasto FOMO this weekend? Head to east London for this one-day festival, taking place in an open-air venue made entirely of shipping containers. With selection of house music DJs playing from day to night, street food and a fully stocked bar, it’s bound to be a fun one.
