Things to do at home during lockdown: The best online and virtual events taking place today

You know the drill by now: things are starting to ease across the country ever so slightly, but we’re still socially distancing and spending most of our time indoors.

Still, the internet has done it's thing, with theatre, comedy and art exhibitions all headed online.

Besides, there's light on the horizon: more restaurants are opening for delivery, there are plenty of online cocktail and wine masterclasses to get stuck into and cinemas are hopeful of opening soon as well.

Take part in a lockdown session with a ‘fell foodie’

Outdoorsman, mountain cook and mental health speaker Harrison Ward is teaming up with the Marloe Watch Company for a lockdown session this evening. The session will see him discuss his adventurous lifestyle, the journey he’s been on with his own mental health and how he combined his love of hiking on the fells in Cumbria with his love of cooking. Tune in from 7pm to get involved.

Watch Tom Hiddleston tread the boards at the Donmar

Donmar Warehouse's Coriolanus starring Tom Hiddleston is the latest star-studded production going online as part of the National Theatre’s lockdown series. Mark Gatiss, Hadley Fraser, Alfred Enoch and Debora Findlay also star in the adaptation of Shakespeare’s political tragedy from 2014, directed by Josie Rourke. Tune in from 7pm.

Take part in The Virtual Pub Quiz

Former Lancashire pub landlord Jay Flynn runs the show on this YouTube channel, which has raised more than £93,000 for NHS Charities Together via a JustGiving campaign – after Flynn originally aimed to raise £15,000. He’s now running them every Thursday at 8.15pm (so you’ve got time to get out in the streets and Clap For Carers beforehand at 8pm).
