Thin Lizzy among nominees for induction into Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2020

Iconic Dublin rock band Thin Lizzy are among the nominees for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next year.

The band, formerly led by charismatic front man Phil Lynott before his untimely death, face stiff competition from the likes of The Notorious B.I.G, Doobie Brothers, Depeche Mode, Whitney Houston, and Soundgarden, among others.

An artist must release their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination in order to be considered for the coveted spot.

The vote is open to members of the public online.

Those lucky enough to win a spot will be announced in January, with the ceremony itself taking place at the Public Auditorium in Ohio, US on May 2.

If they land a spot, they will join two other Irish acts: U2, who were inducted in 2005, and Van Morrison from 1993.
