Thieves used menu to steal woman's phone in Nottingham restaurant

Police have released an image of two men they want to speak to after a woman's phone was stolen at a restaurant in Nottingham city centre. The woman was eating at an establishment in Angel Row at around 3.30pm on September 12 when she was approached by two men.

After walking over to her and asking for money, the men placed a menu over the woman’s phone which was on the table. They then took the phone without her realising what had happened.

An attempt was then made to sell the woman’s phone at a phone shop later that day. Nottinghamshire Police said the men in the CCTV image may be able to help with the investigation.

Sergeant Dan Buckle, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a pre-planned distraction theft on an unsuspecting victim who only realised what had happened when it was too late. We would like to speak to both the men in this picture as we believe they may be able to assist our investigation.

“If anyone recognises them, we’d ask that they get in touch with us immediately via 101, quoting incident 547 of September 12, 2022, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
