Thieves target Shelter Scotland charity shop in Dennistoun

A charity shop in Dennistoun has been targeted by vandals.

Shelter Scotland on Duke Street was forced to close due to damage caused to the front door in the break-in on Thursday morning.

The culprits stole goods from the shop, which sells second-hand clothing and toys, bric-a-brac and books.

Money generated from sales at the shop is fed back into the charity to help people struggling with bad housing or homelessness.

Locals have branded the break-in as 'horrible' and 'absolutely shocking' and extended their sympathy to Karen, who runs the shop.

It's understood that the shop has been targeted by criminals in the past.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 9.40am on Thursday, November 5, officers were called to a report of a break-in and theft at a shop on Duke Street, Glasgow.

"Police enquiries are ongoing into this incident and anyone with information is asked to contact officers through 101 quoting reference 0714 of 5 November."
