Thieves target parked cars in Hyde Park, Kenwood

Police are warning residents about a series of vehicle thefts in May in Hyde Park and Kenwood.

Police are warning residents after several parked vehicles were stolen last month in Kenwood and Hyde Park on the South Side.

In each case, the victims told investigators they parked their vehicles on the street for several days and returned to find them stolen, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The thefts occurred:

  • Between May 27 and 31 in the 5200 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard;
  • Between 6 a.m. May 20 and 3 p.m. May 29 in the 4900 block of South Lake Shore Drive; and
  • Between 11:30 a.m. May 6 and 5:30 a.m. May 7 in the 5000 block of South East End Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8384.
