Police are warning the public about two cellphone thefts that happened last week on the North Side.

In both cases, one or two suspects approached people sitting in businesses with their phones on a table, Chicago police said in an alert. A suspect snatched the phones from the tabletops before running off, police said.

The thefts happened Oct. 16, police said. The first occurred at 2:35 p.m. in the 1000 block of West Diversey Parkway. The second was at 3 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Wrightwood Avenue.

One suspect is described as a man 20 to 25-years old with black braided hair, police said. Another suspect is described as a man 18 to 25-years old with short black hair.

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
