Thieves 'steal elderly man's car and phone' as he slept in West Lothian home

Thieves are said to have broken into an elderly man's house in West Lothian and stole his wallet, phone and car keys as he slept.

The pensioner's home was burgled on Tuesday night in Woodhead Grove, Armadale.

A shocked neighbour told how the man, who is in his 70s, came round to their door and asked for help when he had discovered what had happened.

After waking up to go to the toilet, he found out that his coat, trousers and other possessions were missing, along with his red Toyota Yaris.

Neighbour's were able to get assistance for the "shaken" man.

One neighbour said: "He got up for the toilet to find his coat, trousers, phone, wallet, car keys and house keys missing!

"Some dirty lowlife has broke into his house and stole the poor wee soul's car, a red Toyota Yaris.

"His door was locked and he was asleep! How f***ing disgusting, he was so shaken, absolutely heart-breaking."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We were called around 2.30am on Wednesday, 12 February, to a report of a car being stolen from the Woodhead Grove area of Armadale. Enquiries are ongoing."
