Thieves steal Christmas presents and car while homeowners out

Homeowners returning to their house found their Christmas presents had been stolen and their patio doors smashed in by thieves.

Nottinghamshire Police were called at around 8.35pm to Worthington Road, Newark on Sunday December 20 after the homeowners returned to find their patio doors smashed and their house broken into.

The thieves also managed to steal a car during the burglary.

Detective Constable Andrew Brownless, who is investigating the incident, said: "This is an awful thing to have happened, especially just before Christmas.

"We believe the burglary happened between 4pm and 6.30pm and we urge anyone who saw the incident or has any information to get in touch as soon as possible.

"We would reassure the community that reports such as these will be investigated thoroughly, our enquiries are ongoing and we are working hard to identify those responsible."

Anyone who saw the incident or has any information, is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 599 of 20 December 2020.
