Thieves stole six bikes worth more than £30,000 in an early morning raid.
Ae Forest Bike Shop and Cafe was targeted at about 1.30am on Tuesday with a mix of mountain and e-bikes taken.
A window was smashed which allowed the thieves entry.
John McCubbing, part owner of the business, said: “We got a phone call from the alarm company at around 1.30am.
“We only live a few minutes away but even by the time we got there they had already left.
“There is CCTV on the property and they left some tools on the site so we are really hoping something positive can come from this. The police have been very good with us, they have spent a lot of time up here. There was just a feeling of shock and disbelief that someone could do something like this.”
Callum, John’s son and the manager and mechanic at the shop, said: “These are very high value bikes and fairly rare.”
Police have appealed for any witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the village of Ae in the early hours of Tuesday morning to contact them.
The bikes taken in the raid are two Merida E one sixty (silver), E Crafty (black/white), Megatower CC XO1 (storm grey), Megatower CS (storm grey) and a Merida E One-Sixty demo bike (deep purple).
