Thieves smash up Lanarkshire jewellery shop stealing quantity of gems in early morning raid

Thieves smashed up a Hamilton shop before making off with a quantity of jewellery.

Police raced to Heart of Gold, on Quarry Street , at around 4.10am this morning after reports of a break-in.

Vandals smashed the front window of the well-known shop between 2.30am and 3.30am and made off with valuables.

Officers were seen examining the scene for evidence this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 4.10am on Friday, 13 March, 2020, to a report of a break-in at a jewellery store on Quarry Street, Hamilton.

"The windows were smashed and an unknown quantity of jewellery was stolen.

"Enquiries, which are at an early stage, are ongoing  but it's believed the break-in took place between 2.30am and 3.30am.


"Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers via 101, quoting incident number 0331 of Friday, 13 March."
