Thieves smash glass on back door and steal jewellery in Co Meath estate

Gardai have launched an investigation after two houses were broken into in Meath on Friday evening.

The thieves entered the houses in the Seaview Housing Estate in Laytown by smashing a hole in the glass on the back door and unlocking the door from the inside.

They stole a "small quantity of jewellery" from one of the houses.

Gardai say the burglaries happened between 17:45 and 20:00.

A garda spokesperson said Laytown gardai are investigating the incident.

They said: "If anyone saw any suspicious activity in the area or can help in any way please contact the Gardai on 01 8010600."
